How do I change my display name or fix a connected platform's URL?

You can request changes to your display name and to the URLs of your connected platforms from your dashboard. Because these affect your public profile, they go through a quick admin review — it protects everyone against impersonation.

To change your display name:

In your dashboard, open your profile Settings, edit your name, and submit it for review. Once approved it appears on your public profile (a refresh will show it).
If your new name is very different from the one we have on file and your profile is not yet identity-verified, you may be asked to confirm your identity once more. That is a routine anti-impersonation check and only takes a moment.

To correct a connected platform’s URL:

From that platform’s card on your dashboard, submit the corrected URL for review.
Use the clean profile URL — for example upwork.com/freelancers/your-handle. You do not need to add tracking tags like ?mp_source=share that appear when you use a platform’s “Share” button; those point to the exact same profile, so we keep the clean version.
